Witness their unwavering dedication and join them in celebrating the legacy of this cherished art form.

About Performances @ My Chinatown Complex

Indulge in the cultural richness of Chinatown during My Community Festival 2023 through a myriad of exclusive performances from renowned opera troupes and musical groups which call Chinatown home for the past decades.

Come and join us for a nostalgic trip down memory lane as we relive the sounds of the 1980s and 1990s with a harmonica performance by the Star Harmonics Trio. Prepare to be mesmerised by the vibrant energy of the Chinese Theatre Circle and Ping Sheh, who will be presenting Cantonese Opera and Traditional Peking Opera in Chinatown Complex, respectively. Their extraordinary showcases are bound to leave you spellbound in their fascinating art forms.

Our repertoire also includes the exquisite art of calligraphy and signboard making. Witness the skilled brushwork and intricate craftsmanship as talented artists from Shi Cheng Calligraphy & Seal Carving Society bring these traditional forms of visual art to life, adding further depth to our cultural experience.

About The Host

Ping Sheh, Singapore's oldest Peking Opera troupe, has a decades-long history. Despite their long-standing traditions, they also strive to adapt and modernise, keeping in touch with the changing tastes and preferences of younger generations. Through their performances and dedication, they continue to preserve the essence of Peking Opera while embracing new elements to engage audiences of all ages.
