SINCE 2014 I’VE CREATED A LEGENDARY EVENT HELD IN KENTUCKY WHICH HAS WON BALL, TROPHY AND FLYER OTY FOR MULTIPLE YEARS IN THE MIDWEST AND OKI REGIONS.
I WANTED TO SHOWCASE THE CREATIVITY THIS EVENT HAS PRODUCED SO BEHIND THE MUSIC X IS A COMPILATION OF THE BTM1-BTM9 CATEGORIES IN WHICH I FELT WERE “THE GREATEST” CATEGORIES DISPLAYED SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THIS LEGENDARY EVENT IN 2014!
ALL WINNERS FROM BTM 1-9 WILL RECEIVE AUTOMATIC 10’S. YOU MUST STILL BRING IT LIKE THE CATEGORY DESCRIPTION. ANYONE WHO HAS ASCENDED INTO LEGENDARY STATUS MUST BATTLE WITHIN THEIR STATUS

TEAM SCHOOLBOY REALNESS (BTM) - Known for their style and their hit single “Jump”, Kriss Kross changed the young rap game including the way young men wore their clothes. We want to see you “Totally Krossed Out” in an urban look with your ‘clothes on backwards as your everyday uniform.’
OPEN TO ALL RUNWAY (BTMR) – THE WIZ vs THE WIZARD OF OZ There’s no place like home but you’re going to have to click your heels more than 3 times to get there tonight! Choose a character from either film and create your own version with one thing that is EXAGGERATED from that character. Don’t you carry nothing that might be a load while you ease on down the yellow brick road! FEM QUEEN REALNESS (BTM3) – Every great show has a beginning and an ending. During the season, there is always one person who becomes the star of the show. You’ve landed a role on the newest franchise of The Real Housewives and the show starts now! Everybody knows that the best part of the show is the ‘REUNION’. You must come glammed up and reunion ready. You must also deliver your catchphrase in order to receive 10's. Will the spin-off show be yours or will you be pointed to the door? (JR vs FQ) 2 Trophies

Tonight, you must choose an understudy who is a statement or star, their gender must be opposite of you if you want to get far. Your looks must compliment and represent royalty from another country; and this must be the first time that you’ve walked with this person in any category!
REALNESS w/a TWIST – NEWSIES (BTM6) - Extra! Extra! Read all about it! There's only one mission...Beat ALL the competition! Dreams of living a big life in a small town don't often come true but newsies have another battle that’s about to brew! Will the things you do today will be tomorrow's news! Bring it in a newsies effect (suspenders or vest), and a courier bag you must include. Whichever you pick you must ensure that you are wearing oxford shoes. BAZZAAR (BTM8) – Your “Dark and Twisted Fantasy” (Kanye West) is what we want to see tonight. Just make sure your effect is extra bright so we can see it under “All of the Lights”. The lights will be dimmed for this category. 1 Trophy
OPEN TO ALL BEST DRESSED (BTM9) - Will it be tens, tens, tens across the board? Make sure silver/chrome is visible and incorporated into your look. (Male Figure vs Female Figure vs GNC vs Legend/Icon) 4 Trophies
BQ VOGUE FEM (BTMR) – Come one! Come all! Make your name at the Jellicle Ball! The time has come to make “the Jellicle choice”! Let’s see who’s the fiercest feline dressed like a cat with face paint. (Soft vs Dramatics) 2 trophies. This will be the 10th Category of the night!
PERFORMANCE CATEGORIES
OPEN TO ALL LEGENDARY PERFORMANCE (BTM3) $250 – Start your engines and may the best legend win! On the season finale, RuPaul wants to pay homage to one of America’s legendary disco groups that were known for their on-stage costumes. Despite the influx of performers that may have inspired you, you remain true to yourself. With a look inspired by ‘The Village People’, step up to the stage and prove to your fans that you still have what it takes to be at the top. Remember, there can only be 1 winner so good luck and Don’t Fcuk It Up! Who will stay and who will sashay away?
OLD WAY vs. NEW WAY – (BTM3) – People have come from all over the world to display their different styles of dance. Your style is the future of dance, so bring it in a futuristic effect! 2T
BIG BOYS vs. BIG GIRLS’ PERFORMANCE – SHREK VS URSULA (BTM6) – Not only are they big but they steal the show. Big boys bring it in green and white while big girls bring it in purple and black! 2T
FEMALE FIGURE PERFORMANCE (BTM7) $250 – You’ve seen the cover of Renaissance. Transform into a disco cowgirl and take us on the ride of our lives. You do not have to look like Beyonce, but a shiny/silver look must be incorporated. (Women vs. FQ vs Drags) 3T
HAND PERFORMANCE – MJ (BTM6) – Who’s Bad? Tell us a story with your hands, not arms, in silver glittery gloves.
REALNESS CATEGORIES
BQID REALNESS (BTM6) $250 – Can you make fetch happen? Show them why you are the meanest and realest girl on the block. Bring it a pink top and don’t forget to show us who’s included in your burn book!
EVERDAY REALNESS (BTM7) $250 - Attention! You must be prepared for battle now that you are now part of the “No Limit Soldiers” (Master P). Male figures represent the Army. Female Figures represent the Navy. 2T
BQ THUG REALNESS (BTMR) $250 – N.W.A.’s debut studio album was the pioneering record of gangsta rap and had an enormous impact on the evolution of West Coast hip hop. N.W.A embodied West Coast Street style: the snapback OR the bandannas around the head AND the flannel shirt - this is where you got it from. You choose from the snapback or the bandana! You must also wear a red ribbon in honor H.I.V Awareness in memory of Easy E.
BQ PRETTY BOY REALNESS – GREASE (BTM6) $250 – Summer flings don’t mean a thing. Being easy on the eyes is just one aspect of your look but the way you walk, and dress is what keeps them impressed. Come tonight as a T-Bird to see if you’re the one that the Pink Ladies want!
DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMAN (BTM) – All black at the white shows, white shoes at the black shows, this is truffle season, in a tuxedo for no reason. Tonight you will be all dressed up in black and white tuxedos and bring us a sample of the cologne we like.
FEMALE FIGURE EXECUTIVE REALNESS – LEGALLY BLONDE (BTM6) – Opening statements will get you your 10’s while closing arguments will secure you the win. For your 10’s, you must state your name and what house you represent. For the final battle, the last 2 will have closing arguments stating why she deserves the win.
BIG GIRLS’ REALNESS (BTM9) – You’re not the traditional church girl but you still got church in the morning so bring your Sunday’s best and don’t forget your hat!
TRANSMAN vs BUTCH REALNESS (BTMR) $250 – Wearing a one-piece jumpsuit and a mask, you will unveil yourself to the judges. Will you receive a sentence or receive your walking papers? 2T
MALE FIGURE EXECUTIVE REALNESS (BTM8) – With the unfortunate scandal of Diddy, you are the new host for the White Party in the Hamptons. Bring it in all white and don’t forget your guests’ unique invites. You are turning over a new era tonight so make sure to add the name of someone you don’t see on your invites. (please have 9 invites)
FASHION CATEGORIES
OPEN TO ALL F.E.B. (BTM3) $250 – You’ve been known to be a compulsive shopper, but you never get rid of your pieces because you know that they will be considered vintage over time. Tonight, make your pieces hit in a cohesive look with a combination of Foot, Eye and Belt or Bag. Will the judges go up, or will all of that hoarding make you gag? Any season! Any year!
GLITZ AND GLAM (BTM4) – Many of Queens have ruled this category but tonight it will also be opened to the others! One winner must be one word…STUNNING! (Male Figure vs. GNC vs. Female Figure) 3T
SNEAKER (BTM8) $250 – Choose a shoe from any hip hop artist collaboration and bring it to the main stage.
URBAN vs HIGH FASHION STREETWEAR (BTM6) – We want to see the most exclusive garments that will have the crowd become a fiend of what you are selling! 2T
BODY CATEGORIES
BQ vs. TRANSMAN BODY (BTM3) $250– This year, ESPN wants the people to pick the athlete that will earn the cover of their BODY ISSUE magazine. You must come in only a jock strap with the prop from the sport that you are representing! (Models vs Muscular vs Transman) 3T
WOMAN’S BODY (BTM8) – The shape of a woman has its own vernacular but only one word stands out the most and that is SPECTACULAR. With the sway of your hips and the curves of your breast serve us body in a look of burlesque.
FQ BODY – SILK STOCKINGS (BTM6) – Silk is the name and body is the game. Bring it in silk pajamas and don’t forget the assignment…. SILK STOCKINGS! (Models vs Luscious) 2T

SIGN OF THE TIMES (BTM7) – For this category, you must hold up various signs during the ball that are eye-catching, funny, political or whatever you feel like expressing. Others and I will be watching and at the end of the night, the person that impresses us the most will win the cash!
COMMENTATOR vs. COMMENTATOR (BTM8) $250– Rap City’s “The Basement” produced some of the hottest freestyles and rap battles. Tonight, you must choose something that is happening in real time at the ball for your 10’s and be prepared to bring our best chants for the battle zone!
NEW CATEGORIES (BTM7)
America is the land of opportunity and tonight it’s your turn to show why you will be the next problem that ballroom will have to deal with! Bring it in one color or any combination of red, white and/or blue. The look and creativity are totally on you!
