Behind the Mask: From Protection to Possibility
About this Event
Do you feel that you look like you are coping well on the outside, yet internally feel emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or constantly “on.”
Do you carry invisible roles:
- the strong one
- the responsible one
- the helper
- the achiever
- the fixer
- the calm professional
- the one who “cannot fall apart”
These roles are not fake.
They are often protective masks developed to help us function, survive, lead, care for others, or avoid emotional pain.
But over time, constantly wearing these masks can become emotionally heavy.
This workshop is designed to help participants gently explore:
- the masks they wear
- the beliefs and pressures beneath them
- their coping patterns under stress
- the voice of the Inner Critic
- and the possibility of responding differently with greater self-awareness and self-compassion
Using Persona, Personita, and COPE Cards, participants will engage in a guided reflective process that combines:
- metaphor
- emotional insight
- practical reflection
- mindfulness-informed approaches
- psychologically-safe conversations
- and emotional clarity exercises
This is not about “fixing” yourself. It is about understanding yourself more deeply.
- develop greater emotional awareness
- recognise stress and coping patterns earlier
- identify self-critical beliefs and inner pressure
- understand why certain patterns repeat
- learn healthier ways to respond under stress
- strengthen self-compassion and emotional clarity
- reconnect with their more authentic self
- experience emotional reflection in a safe, supportive space
Session 1 — What Mask Am I Wearing?
Explore the roles, identities, and protective patterns you show the world.
Session 2 — How Do I Cope When the Mask Gets Heavy?

Session 3 — Is My Inner Critic Telling the Truth?
Identify self-critical beliefs and learn how to challenge emotionally exhausting narratives.
Session 4 — Building the Inner Ally
Strengthen healthier emotional responses, boundaries, self-support, and intentional action.
Unlike traditional “positive thinking” workshops, this experience focuses on:
- emotional safety instead of performance
- reflection instead of pressure
- insight instead of forced vulnerability
- practical emotional awareness skills
- gentle but meaningful psychological exploration
The use of reflective cards allows participants to explore emotions indirectly through metaphor and imagery, which often feels safer and less overwhelming than direct questioning.
This can be especially helpful for:
- emotionally overwhelmed adults
- caregivers
- helping professionals
- leaders and professionals
- neurodivergent individuals
- people who struggle to articulate emotions
- individuals navigating stress, burnout, identity shifts, or emotional exhaustion
- Small group format (maximum 4 participants) or Individual one to one sessions

- Guided card-based exercises
- Optional sharing (never forced)
No prior experience with OH Cards is required.
