Behind the Lab Doors: A CEES Tour of PIC's A-Wing
About this Event
You’ve seen the innovation on stage. Now see where it happens.
Swap the icy grounds for the lab floor and join the Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (CEES) for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the A-Wing at NAIT’s Productivity and Innovation Centre (PIC).
The A-Wing isn’t your average research space. It’s a high-head industrial facility with six-metre ceilings and heavy steel trusses built to hang equipment. It was designed for big, messy experiments. This is where ideas leave the whiteboard and get tested at real scale.
What you’ll see:
- 🧪 Wet and testing labs, where environmental, materials and industrial samples get put through their paces
- ⛏️ Tailings and materials alteration labs, home to CEES research on tailings management, process water, greenhouse gas reduction and land remediation
- 👋 The people behind the work. Meet the CEES researchers who take ideas from bench to scale-up with industry partners
Why it’s worth your time:
CEES is one of 60 Technology Access Centres (TACs) across Canada. We help businesses get their products, processes and services market-ready through specialized technical services, training and applied research. Whether you’re curious, looking for a collaborator or quietly wondering what a lab like this could do for your next big idea, you’ll leave with a few new ones.
Dress for the lab:
👖 For safety, closed-toe shoes and long pants are required. Leave the sandals and shorts at home, or you won’t be able to join the tour.
Small groups mean you’ll get up close, ask all the questions and actually hear the answers. They also mean spots will go fast. If both tours fill up, we’ll add more, so register now to grab your place.
Meet in the lobby of the PIC building.
Don’t just hear about innovation. Come stand in the middle of it.
