Behind the Dance: When Women Gather
About this Event
Have you ever wondered what goes into creating a dance piece from beginning to end? Join Upward Spiral Dance for an intimate glimpse behind the curtain and experience the creative process in real time.
On Saturday, September 12 from 12:30–1:30 PM, you’re invited to sit in on a rehearsal of When Women Gather, our newest contemporary dance work. See how movement, music, emotion, and collaboration come together as the dancers shape the piece. After rehearsal, stick around for a Q&A with the dancers and hear about their experiences bringing the work to life.
When Women Gather explores the lived experience of women in America: the constant overstimulation, invisible emotional labor, frustration of navigating a patriarchal society, and the deep bonds that sustain us through it all. It is a dance about friendship, rage, exhaustion, resilience, and the extraordinary strength that emerges when women gather in community.
Come curious. See the process. Ask questions. And get a behind-the-scenes look at how a dance becomes a performance.
