Behind the Baton LIVE returns November 17 for a special program presented in partnership with CPR Classical and inspired by the Denver Art Museum’s new exhibition, DIVA. Join conductor Scott O’Neil and Denver Art Museum Interpretive Specialist Holly Harmon for a journey from opera’s original prima donnas to the boundary-breaking icons of today.
Through live keyboard performance, musical demonstrations, visual storytelling and conversation, Scott and Holly will explore how the diva evolved from a term for extraordinary talent into a symbol of independence, reinvention and defiance. Beginning with legendary opera figures such as Maria Callas, the program will move through themes of breaking free, self-expression, civil rights and cultural influence.
The 90-minute program includes an audience Q&A. Performances take place at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
