Unlock a world of printmaking in this six-week class that invites you to experience a variety of techniques while focusing on personal expression and creativity. Whether you’re just starting or looking to expand your skills, this class is all about experimenting with different methods to create prints that are unique to you.
Throughout the course, we will work with several different printmaking processes:
Gelli Printing: Using a flexible gel plate, you’ll create one-of-a-kind prints with an exciting process that allows you to experiment with color, texture, and layers. Each print will be a spontaneous creation, offering endless possibilities and surprising results.
Collagraph: Learn to build your own printing plates by applying materials like paper, fabric, or found textures. You’ll be able to create rich, layered prints that explore both surface and depth.
Block Printing: A classic method where you’ll carve your own designs into wood or linoleum blocks. This hands-on process is perfect for creating bold, graphic prints and offers a sense of satisfaction with every cut.
Lithography: Explore a fun and accessible version of lithography using everyday materials. This technique allows you to create detailed, expressive prints without needing a full litho press.
Found Object Prints: You’ll also have the opportunity to experiment with everyday objects to create interesting textures and patterns, turning simple materials into something extraordinary.
Each week, you’ll be guided through the process of creating prints with a focus on experimenting, developing your style, and making art that’s meaningful to you. By the end of the course, you’ll have a collection of prints that showcase your creative growth, along with the confidence to keep experimenting on your own.
This class is perfect for beginners and those with some printmaking experience who want to push their practice to the next level. Whether you’re looking to create personal artwork or just have fun with the materials, you’ll leave with new skills, fresh ideas, and a deeper connection to the process.
