Beginning Letterpress: Text & Image (5 weeks)
In this five week class, we’ll focus on learning the basics of setting metal and wood type and go over some different image-making techniques on and off the letterpress. You’ll learn to prepare your paper, mix ink, and make multiple-layer prints on our 19th century platen press.
This will be a small class with a max of 4 students, so there will be plenty of personalized instruction time. No previous printmaking experience necessary.
Students can also join us for open studio sessions to work on setting type or printing outside of class.
Class dates are Sunday mornings 10am-1pm: October 4, 11, 18, 25, and November 1.
