Beginners Sewing Workshop
About this Event
Beginners Sewing Workshop
Do you have a sewing machine gathering dust because you're too scared to use it? Have you invested in a new machine but now lack confidence using it? Or do you want a basic run-through on a machine before committing to buying your own? If so, this class is for you.
Bring your machine to this class, and I'll teach you:
- How to thread it
- Change the needles
- Change the presser feet
- Threading the bobbin
- Loading the bobbin
- Stitching practise
- Troubleshooting common issues
At the end of the Sewing Machine 101, if we have time, we'll start on a simple project: sewing a tote bag!
This class lasts 2 hours.
Class structure:
1st hour: sewing machine set up
2nd hour: cutting out a project, starting the sewing process!
You will need to bring your sewing machine, manual, and any accessories that came with it, or let us know if you’d like to use one of our machines. (We have 2 on hand, so this is first come, first served).
Book yourself, or a group of you, to come! We can have up to 6 people on a long table.
This class is taught by Paige.
About the tutor:
Paige is an experienced professional sewing expert who studied Fashion and Textiles and has been sewing for over 20 years. Her nan taught her the basics as a child, and she would watch her make costumes for a local amateur dramatics society! Having an interest in sewing and making from an early age, her first job at 13 was in a dressmaker's shop!
From this, she has gone from hobbyist seamstress to a professional working with brands such as Brother, Janome, Friday Pattern Company, Simply Sewing Magazine, and more on sewing content and tutorials.
With experience working on a wide variety of sewing machines, you can come to class knowing you will leave with newfound confidence!
