đź’™ What's a cyanotype? I hear you ask.Well, its a beautiful, historic process of cyanotype printmaking. First developed in the 1840s, this early photographic technique creates striking white images on a deep Prussian blue background.
Now that you're interested in cyanotype - join cyanotype artist Laurinda Bellew for a hands-on introduction. During this relaxed morning workshop, you’ll experiment with pre-coated paper and fabric, learning how to create prints using flowers, leaves and found objects. You’ll also explore more playful “wet” techniques using water, salt, spices, vinegar and bubbles to create unexpected textures and effects.
Laurinda will guide you through exposing your designs under UV light, understanding exposure times, and rinsing and finishing your prints. Cirencester’s iconic hare will even make an appearance as a stencil option for your designs.
No experience needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
You’ll leave with a collection of your own unique cyanotype prints and the confidence to keep exploring this fascinating process at home.
