Beginner watercolor — taught by local watercolor artist Jennifer Teeler.
Start your watercolor journey with a calm, confidence-building class focused on one color (also called a monochrome or value study). You’ll learn the core skills that make watercolor “click”: how water moves, how pigment flows, and how to blend, soften edges, and build depth by layering transparent washes. We provide everything you need—just bring your curiosity (and a friend!).
What you’ll do
Learn watercolor foundations: water control + pigment-to-water ratio (the secret sauce)
Practice key wash techniques: flat wash and graded wash (smooth transitions from dark to light)
Explore wet-on-wet vs wet-on-dry for flowy blends vs crisp details
Try blending + “dropping in” pigment (charging) to create natural gradients and movement (aka that magical watercolor bloom moment)
