3-DAY STAINED GLASS CLASS
This is our 8-week beginner class condensed into a 3-day blitz of fun and learning!
About this Event

Start Simple. Learn the Craft. Discover the Art.

You'll learn the basic art & technique of the age old craft of stained glass. Skills learned include design and drawing lessons, pattern-making, glass cutting, panel assembly, soldering and cementing. Practice your skills while building a leaded panel. Upon completion of the course, you will have the fundamental skills necessary for making basic stained glass windows.

Stained glass can be surprisingly simple to begin—and deep enough to explore for a lifetime. The Beginner Stained Glass Weekend Workshop at Tulsa Stained Glass is designed to give new students a comfortable, practical introduction to the craft while also showing how basic skills can eventually grow into thoughtful, original works of art. It is equally useful as a refresher for those who learned stained glass in the past and want to rebuild their confidence.

The workshop begins Friday evening, continues all day Saturday, and concludes with a half-day Sunday session. This format gives students time to learn, practice, ask questions, correct mistakes, and gain hands-on experience without feeling rushed. Before class, students receive access to Tulsa Stained Glass’s in-depth how-to video, which grew from student instructional material developed more than 35 years ago. Although tools and products continue to evolve, the basic principles of this centuries-old craft remain remarkably consistent. Learning those principles before arriving allows more classroom time to be spent actually working with glass.

You will learn the secrets of developing work habits that lead to better results. That deeper understanding helps students move beyond simply copying a pattern and begin developing the judgment needed to work independently.

Richard Bohm and Tulsa Stained Glass have taught thousands of students over the years, many of whom began simply looking for an enjoyable hobby and went on to create gifts, original projects, advanced work, and even pursue the craft vocationally.

A special feature of the weekend is the Walk & Talk Tour of the studio, featuring an overview of Advanced Stained Glass Techniques. Students will see examples of more sophisticated methods, designs, tools, and finished work. The purpose is not to overwhelm the beginner, but to show what becomes possible after the fundamentals are mastered. A simple first project can be the beginning of much more.

That progression—from craft to art—is an important part of the Tulsa Stained Glass philosophy. Technique teaches you how to build a window; artistic thinking gives you something worth saying with it. Richard’s broader work through the EMOSY creative process, his book Have Fun with Your Inner Artist, and the Visions class encourages students to think about meaning, personal stories, photography, color, shape, and design before beginning construction.

The goal of this workshop is straightforward: learn the foundation, practice the skills, understand the process, and discover where stained glass can take you.

Start simple. Learn it right. Practice it well. Then turn the craft into your own art form.
