What is Shuffle Dance?The type of shuffle dancing taught is Cutting Shapes, a street dance from the 1980s and 1990s in the UK and danced to electronic music like techno and house. The dance is based on moves like the running man and Charleston, and can be danced freestyle or as a choreography.
Where and when?
A 5-week beginner course for shuffle dance is being held at GFF Damian Dance Studios every Wednesday evening starting 20th March 2024 from 20:15 to 21:10. If all spaces are not filled then drop-in classes become available.
Please do not enter the class until the class start time. (GFF policy is that if you are more than 5 minutes late, you will not be able to enter class and will not be refunded.)
Do I need any dance experience?
No, classes are suitable for absolute beginners. The moves will be broken down into basic parts, and the music will be played at a lower bpm, slowly increasing throughout the class to allow you to build your confidence.
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable, lightweight clothes because you will sweat! Shuffle is an incredible workout so gymwear is appropriate. Please bring a change of shoes for wearing inside the class, and leave your outdoor shoes at the entrance.
What does it cost?
The 5-week course will run from 20th March for £60. Drop-in classes will be available if the course isn't fully booked.
Please note that a minimum of 3 people must be booked onto the class in advance for it to run. If the minimum is not met, the class will be cancelled and you will be notified by email 2 hours prior. Please book on by Tuesday to avoid disappointment.
What happens next?
After you are comfortable transitioning between the Running Man, Charleston and T-Step, you can move to the improver level.
The improver class venue, day and time is still to be confirmed.
