Brasstown Bald, Georgia’s highest point, has a diverse array of plant and animal life. The higher elevation of the Blue Ridge Mountain Range consists of green Rhododendrons, steep terrain, and exposed rock faces. This ecological system creates the perfect home for a variety of birds from Canada Warblers to Pileated Woodpeckers. Brasstown Bald is partnering with birder Pam Higginbotham to host a “Beginner Birding Walk and Talk” to explore the different bird species found atop Brasstown Bald.
Pam will guide birders throughout the Brasstown Bald site and point out our unique native bird populations and calls. This hike is perfect for intermediate birders and those who are just starting out. Pam is open to questions and helping participants be the best birders they can be.
The program is free, participants just have to pay the site entrance fee, which is $5/per individual 16 or older.
