About the Artist: Moe Pancho
Tansi, my name is Moe Pancho and I am a queer, disabled multidisciplinary artist and proud member of the Metis Nation of British Columbia with roots from the Peepeekisis Cree Nation on Treaty 4 territory. My work is deeply intertwined with my mixed ancestry, combining elements that speak to me from the importance of land based practices and our non-human relatives to infusing folklore and imagery from my European ancestry. Art has always been my strongest and most powerful language for me to navigate the complexities of identity, pain, history, and the world around me.
Bugs, insects, creepy crawlies, whatever terms you prefer, are absolutely imperative in human survival; they directly pollinate our food sources, they feed the animals we share the land with, carry information from the land and are just beautiful and fascinating to watch and learn about. My work aims to highlight their unusual beauty and their roles in our ecosystem, inviting you to remember that even the smallest beings hold immense power and importance.
