Witness history in the making as Music Director Matthias Pintscher blends classical mastery with bold innovation. This compelling concert features Beethoven’s music plus a newly commissioned world premiere. The great German composer’s Second Piano Concerto will be paired with a brand-new concerto by Lisa Streich, a Swedish composer whose music revels in surprises and contrasts. The symphony on the program is Beethoven’s Fourth, described by Robert Schumann, compared to the Third and the Fifth, as “a slender Greek maiden between two Norse giants.”
