About this Event

Dive into how bees and grapevines converge at "Bees in the Vineyard," an event in our "Ecosystem of the Vineyard" series. Set against the backdrop of Oregon's scenic Proteus Wines estate, this gathering offers an insightful experience tailored for those curious about the intersection of wine and nature.

Led by John Rockrohr, a second-generation apiarist with Our Biz is Bees, this casual class welcomes up to twenty attendees to unravel the symbiosis between vineyards and beekeeping. Discover the mutual benefits enjoyed by both as John shares his practical wisdom on sustainable practices and the inner workings of an apiary. You’ll have an opportunity to sample and purchase some of John’s wares from some of his apiaries across Tualatin Valley, including Proteus Estate.

Following the informative session, treat your taste buds to a tasting of Proteus Wines, crafted with a commitment to organic and sustainable farming methods. Whether you're new to the world of wine or seeking to deepen your understanding, "Bees in the Vineyard" promises an enriching experience that celebrates the harmony between nature's humble pollinators and the vineyard's bounty.

Join us at 4:30 pm on Friday, May 17th and kick off your weekend with us for an afternoon of learning and sipping as we explore the hidden connections that make every glass of wine a testament to the beauty of the natural world. Please note the class will involve observing live bees in a glass observation hive.
