Bees, butterflies, and blooms - oh my!
In this creative, slow-paced embroidery workshop, TRCA educators will share why pollinators and native plants are essential to spaces like Tommy Thompson Park. Then, you'll stitch a beautiful nature-inspired design with guidance from our educators. Leave with a one-of-a-kind personalized piece of art and a deeper appreciation for our pollinators and native plants!
Expert guided instruction is provided, and all embroidery skill levels are welcome! For each participant enrolled, we will provide all materials required for this program, including:
- Embroidery floss
- Wooden hoop
- Embroidery needles
- Embroidery design (shown in photo)
This workshop is part of TRCA's Butterfly Festival at Tommy Thompson Park program series.
This event is intended for Ages 10+:
- Beginner level information
- Introductory concepts delivered in a hands-on, interactive format
- Intended audience includes children and adults
Date and Time: Saturday, August 8th at 1:30 to 4:00pm.
Capacity: 15 participants.
Location: Tommy Thompson Park at the Nature Centre located here.
Ticket Price: Tickets for this event are $24.00 + HST (plus Eventbrite fees).

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation requests received by TRCA more than 14 days before the start of the program will receive a 75% refund of the relevant program fees paid. Cancellation requests received by TRCA less than 14 days before the start of the program do not qualify for a refund. Minimum registration numbers are required for the program to operate. In the event TRCA must cancel the program due to low registration, a refund of the ticket price less Eventbrite fees will be issued. Be Prepared
- Meet program leaders at the Main Entrance. Note that the program will be located at the Nature Centre, which is a 700m walk from the Main Entrance along a fully paved path. Please dress for the weather and short walk.
- This program is designed for adults and children ages 10+. If attending with a young person, adults may be required to assist them during this program.
- You are invited to bring a personal item to customize with your embroidery. Suggested items include: t-shirts, hats, pants + jeans, handkerchief. We don't recommend shoes or bags.
- While you may not be able to finish your entire project in the time alloted for the program, you will be provided with the pattern, hoop, and additional floss to take home and complete your embroidered item.
- Note that flush toilets and water refill station are located at the Main Entrance only; portable toilets are available to use at the Nature Centre. There is no running water in the park. Please plan accordingly.
- Bring a filled water bottle and snacks, if needed.
