Cloudy with a Chance of Ale

Our intimate concert experience will feel a bit more Rumi with these works inspired by the Persian poet as well as the Sun, Moon, and Clouds. The Amorsima Trio (violin, viola, and cello) will present vibrant works including Jessica Meyers' I Only Speak of the Sun, Jeffrey Mumford's "in soft echoes...a world awaits", and Kaija Saariaho's Cloud Trio.
Root-Beerthoven
November 22nd, 23rd, and 24th
String quartet Invoke is going back to its Roots and exploring the many meanings of the word: the origins of the string quartet itself, the roots-music influence present throughout the history of classical music, and Invoke’s own roots in the string quartet genre. Featuring Haydn’s buoyant Op. 20 No. 2, alongside a newly composed response by Invoke, and selected works by W. G. Still, Copland, Revel, and Florence Price.
Hoppy Holidays with Tinsel Singers
December 15th, 21st, and 22nd
Bring us some figgy puddy and a cup of good beer! We'll make the season bright with the Tinsel Singers while sipping hot cocoa and cold beer on the lawn of the historic Neill-Cochran House Museum.
Star Crossed
February 13th, 14th, and 15th
No shining armor here but we do have a Knight worthy of your attention this Valentine's Weekend. As the first classical composer of African descent to achieve widespread acclaim, Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint Georges made even Mozart green with envy. In a Beerthoven first, Artisan String Quartet will present three different programs in the same weekend, including three different quartets by Joseph Bologne, Beethoven's Romeo-and-Juliet-inspired Op. 18 No. 1 string quartet, and quartets by Edward Grieg and Borodin, whose work inspired the musical Kizmet. Note: Season Pass Holders are entitled to attend one performance of this program. Tickets for additional performances will be available for purchase.
Rags to Riches
April 25th, 26th, and 27th
Beerthoven is returning to one of its earliest blowout successes with David Hanlon's Texanische Liebeslieder ("Texas Love Songs"), inspired largely by Brahms' Liebeslieder Walzer ("Love Song Waltzes") in its arrangement for four voices and piano four hands. We'll feature Brahms' Op. 65 Liebeslieder Walzer with acclaimed pianists Austin Haller and Beerthoven Director Daniel Swayze as well as vocalists Laura Mercado-Wright, Shari Wilson, Trevor Shaw, and Gregory Hilliard.
By purchasing a Beerthoven Season Pass you'll get a $125 value for $110!
Performance times and locations will vary; see specific program ticketing pages as they are published for exact timing and location details. Primary venues include Saengerrunde Hall, the Neill-Cochran House Museum, and a variety of intimate venues in the greater Austin metro.
Beerthoven events are General Admission only and do not offer assigned seating.
Season Passes are available only until September 29th--the end of our first program of the season--so act fast!
About Beerthoven:
The critically-acclaimed Beerthoven Concert Series is a down-to-earth, approachable celebration of classical song, chamber music, and beer; a quirky mixture of Bach and Doppelbock in unique and intimate settings. Beerthoven finds its inspiration in the musical and festive events of the Austin Saengerrunde as well as the private "salon" concerts of Beethoven's time. Beerthoven events feature live classical music, free beer, and other refreshments and snacks in an all-inclusive manner. There is no backstage here; audience members may even find themselves standing in line for beer with the performers.
Programming is intentionally diverse in tone, instrumentation, and featured performers. Beerthoven supports local artists by offering fair compensation and unique performance venues. Audience members will find our prices at the very low end of typical classical concerts--especially for students and especially given the high quality of the exbeerience.
