About this Event
Live bees will be used. Please attend in closed-toe shoes and long sleeves. A beekeeping suit or veil can be provided, but if you own one, please bring it.
The registration fee of $20.00 (plus $3.18 Eventbrite fee) includes materials and refreshments. Participants must register through Eventbrite by May 13th. A fee of $10.00 (plus $3.85 Eventbrite fee) will be applied for registrations after May 13th, or if paying at the door. This class is limited to 30 participants. There will be no refunds for the registration fee.
You will learn about frame selection for honey extraction, uncapping, extracting using various methods, and bottling.
OPTIONAL: You may purchase the Honey Bee Field Guide through the IFAS Bookstore and pick up a copy at this event by following these instructions:
- Purchase the guide through the IFAS bookstore at https://ifasbooks.ifas.ufl.edu/p-1828-honey-bee-pest-and-disease-guide.aspx
- Select the "pick up in store" option to avoid any shipping costs
- Bring your receipt to the class and pick up your guide!
