Are you buzzing with curiosity about beekeeping? Join us for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn the basics of starting your own hive. Our experienced beekeepers will guide you through the ins and outs of beekeeping, from the anatomy of bees, setting up your hive to harvesting honey. Don't bee shy, come on down and get started on your beekeeping journey!

Agenda and learning outcomes

The course will begin within the classroom on our beautiful site in Mwyndy cross industries, Pontyclun, before moving on to managing beehives outdoors in the afternoon. This is a relaxed and informative course that will be delivered at a pace to suit you, ages 11+

10:00- 12:30 Theory

13:00 - 15:00 Outdoor beekeeping

The Trainers

The Course will be delivered by Kevin Edwards and/or Dafydd Rogers who are experienced Beekeepers based in RCT. Both bring a wealth of beekeeping experience to the course and are skilled at engaging with people.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course you will have

* Learnt the basic anatomy and needs of bees

* Develop a basic understanding of how to manage bees

*Learnt how to put on a protective bee suit and opened and managed a Beehive.

* Improved your confidence for managing Bees

PPE

All PPE will be provided however we recommend you bring some thick clothes to go under the bee suits, if it is a hot day please bring thick clothing in a spare bag so you dont overheat! If you have your own suit please bring it along.

Teas and coffees will be provided - please message in advance with any dietary requirements.

*Whilst we provide high quality equipment there is no guarantee you wont get stung, this is course is not suitable for those who may have adverse anaphylacatic reactions or allergies to bee stings. Book at your own risk.
