Join Beehive Poets, when we will be re-staging our cancelled event from last October, hosting two Bradford-based poets, Catherine Benson and Kathy Bramley, both longstanding members of Beehive Poets:Catherine Benson spent most of her childhood in Scotland and now lives in Bradford. Her poems have been published in many anthologies for both children and adults, and have been broadcast on BBC radio. Her first adult collection It must have Been a Sunday was published by Smith/Doorstep 2005. She has won prizes in several competitions : the Peterloo, Buxton, Templar, Scottish National, TES, Oldie, New Statesman and the Spectator. Untitled as Yet is her second collection.
Originally from Derbyshire, Kathy Bramley is a Shipley-based, non-binary and neurodiverse poet. A relatively long-standing Beehive Poet, Kathy is a graduate of the Bradford Poetry Foundation's course, performed in the New Queers on The Block/TiM Pre-Edinburgh Festival Weekender as well as Talking in Tongues at much-missed venue The Brickbox Rooms, and a few later dates. Their poem was one of the winners to be included in Shipley's poetry trail run by Rhubarb Writers. Having won an environmental writing competition in their teens, Kathy's poetry is political but playful, with a punky DIY edge. Don't be too surprised if they break into song as part of the reading! Their YouTube channel can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq4oybD8CcQcFs5YF3SlL_A
We look forward to seeing you there!
