Learn how to sew, solder and diagnose problems with a variety of items including clothes, toys, and bikes from local volunteers.

How does it work?

1. Booking is essential. Register one item and give us as much information as possible. Please, no large electricals such as microwaves.

2. If possible, do an LFT test before you arrive, wear a mask inside if you can, and be considerate with how many people you bring. Do not attend if you feel unwell.

3. Arrive any time between 10am and 2pm. The day is 'drop in'. You may have to wait to be helped, but there are refreshments while you wait. Bring all power adaptors and stuff to conduct the repair (e.g. new zips).

4. Stay with your item. There is no guarantee your item will be fixed, and if it will take a long time, we will show you how to finish it at home.

5. Your repair is free. Donations are welcome to help cover costs (insurance and room hire). You can pay cash in donation jars on the day to say 'thank you' to your Fixer, or drop some cash here: paypal.me/bedfordrepair

Who are you?

We are a group of volunteers who care about repair. Our Fixers are skilled in their areas and are giving up their time for free to help fellow Bedfordians- for many, this isn't their job, simply a way to connect with the community. None of our organisers or volunteers get paid, and our donations are spent on running events.

Where should I park?

On site at The Place Bedford.

What's the accessibility like?

Repairs will be available at accessible stations in The Place foyer. Please let us know in your ticket booking if you have additional needs. The Place has an accessible toilet that is also gender-neutral and baby change toilet.

How often do you hold events?

About four times a year currently. We need more volunteers in order to hold more events.
