3 art classes on understanding the art of Kahlo, Basquiat, and Botero, and incorporating their style into your own art. Beginners welcome!
About this Event

This 3-class series will meet Saturdays from 5-7pm, beginning August 29th. Each class has two parts:

  • an art history lesson about the artist and an analysis of their style.
  • the production of an original artwork incorprating an aspect of the artist's signature style

The classes will focus on the following artists:

  • Class 1: Frida Kahlo - Sat. Aug. 29th
  • Class 2: Jean-Michel Basquiat - Sat. Sept. 5th
  • Class 3: Fernando Botero - Sat. Sept. 12th

The last class will be an extra hour long to allow for a public show-and-tell, where the general public is invited to view the work created during class, as well as hear students talk about the work and answer audience questions. This mirrors art school, where the final class is dedicated to talking about your work and answering questions about it.

Art supplies will be provided, included paper, pencils, markers, charcoal, colored pencils, and pastels. If any other materials are desired, please feel free to bring your own.
