Becoming Mountain Woman: Family Storytelling and Clay Workshop

Join us for a Valentine's/Family Day weekend storytelling & clay-making workshop designed for children and caregivers to create together in a slow, grounded way.

Using clay, participants will become the mountain — a simple, imaginative form that invites storytelling, care, and creativity across generations. No art experience is needed. The focus is on process, not perfection.

This workshop is intentionally held as a calm, community gathering facilitated space rather than a drop-in craft table. All materials are provided, and each participant will take their clay home.

• 3:00–4:00 pm — General Public Session
• 4:30–5:30 pm — BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) Families Session
  

• Live performance storytelling and dance of Becoming Mountain Woman, written, choreographed and performed by Artist, Danielle F Lobo
• Live re-enactment of story with Children
• Clay prompt from story
• Social/fun time to play and create with Clay

• Take-home clay and mountain woman card
• Light snacks and refreshments (samosas and chai)

Danielle is an artist and a past Ontario Arts Council recipient. She works as a counsellor and community leader. She rises to the challenge of holding unique spaces for community. She shares bold stories that help us to stay present to our purpose and childlike creativity. She has the courage and emotional depth to support children and families with a specifc vision for BIPOC curated spaces. Committed to community justice throughout her life, she holds the voice of her ancestors as her guide in this work, often working with her own dreams and dreams of community.
