About this Event

Beavers: Much Maligned Masters of Healthy Ecological Systems.

At Riverdale Regional Park, we will start with a fun and interactive presentation about North American and Eurasian beavers, learning how they were once hunted nearly to extinction and why they are now recognized as important “ecosystem engineers.” Participants will explore how beaver dams improve water quality, expand wetlands, and create habitat for many species. If transportation is available, the group will take a short trip to a nearby beaver complex along the creek north of Elaine T. Valente to see these impacts in action before returning to Riverdale.

Location: Riverdale Regional Park

Time: 9-10:34am

Participants: 15 maximum

Audience: All ages, guardians must accompany participating youth
