On this Sunday, we will be celebrating The Flower Ceremony (sometimes referred to as Flower Communion) an annual ritual that celebrates beauty, human uniqueness, diversity, and community. This year is the Centennial of the Flower Ceremony, created in 1923 by Unitarian minister Norbert Čapek of Prague, Czech Republic. Rev. Larry will draw insights from Rev. Čapek’s remarkable life and thought. Music will feature the First U Choir and soloists singing songs and texts by Norbert Capek, accompanied by an instrumental ensemble of First U members.
We will also be welcoming our newest members.
Please bring a flower to add to our vase of flowers when you arrive at church on this Sunday. You will be taking a different flower than the one you brought to symbolize the transformation that can occur in a religious community.
Children will join us for the first part of the service so that they can participate in the Flower Ceremony.
