Beautiful Nothing Reunion at Mills Hardware
Burlington's Beautiful Nothing have enjoyed video rotation on MuchMusic, a Hamilton Music Award nod, and strong college radio support. Over the years, they’ve shared the stage with Canadian alternative rock favourites like The Trews, Monster Truck, Big Wreck, and Arkells, earning high praise from the legendary Alan Cross while accumulating a dedicated cult following. Formed in 2000, the band actively wrote and performed until 2018, when life took over and an unplanned hiatus followed – until now. For this one-night-only show, Beautiful Nothing will be revisiting the best of their entire catalog. It’s a reunion you won't want to miss!

Beautiful Nothing is a alt-rock band originally formed by three brothers — Luke (guitar/keyboards), Anthony (vocals), and Shane Ludgate (drums) and rounded out by childhood friends Sven Petrovic (guitar/keyboards), James Featherstone (bass) and Michael Greggain (guitar/keyboards). Musically, they create an ‘80s-ignited sphere of driving electronics, thick, grimace-inducing bass lines and soaring, dissonant guitar lines that would speak to the Pixies in their Bossanova years. Lyrically, the songs are an ode to youthful exuberance, sex, burning cities, ghosts and relationships past. Vocal leads casually pushing through like Edwyn Collins when he found his crooner meets punk rocker footing in Orange Juice. When all these sonic aspects combine in the melting pot, we get Beautiful Nothing. The band’s 2014 self-titled album amassed college radio and video airplay across Canada, while videos for the songs “Come Color Me” and “Highway To The Sky” received rotation on both Aux TV and MuchLoud, and their live shows had them sharing stages with names like The Trews, Monster Truck, The Arkells, and Finger Eleven, earning praise from the legendary Alan Cross while accumulating a dedicated cult following. Follow-up EP Sleep Walk (2017) was the result of days and weeks experimenting with sounds, song structures, guitar parts and lyrics at their home studio, where they'd fill breaks in recording with the sounds of '80s bands like New Order, Depeche Mode and The Cure, and watch old David Lynch films for inspiration. That diet inspired a fresh and exciting approach to the studio, with lyrics pulled from stream of consciousness and matched with intuitive, exploratory sounds. When the arrangements felt right, they took the project to Oshweken's Jukasa Studios under producer-engineer Darren Magierowski (Alexisonfire, July Talk, Monster Truck). The only way to truly experience Beautiful Nothing, however, is at their live show. “On stage we aim to be something to look at, with the purpose of taking people on a ride into our world,” says Anthony. “We breathe new life into our music every time we play.”
