About this Event
“TAK-HACK - Hacking the Human Machine Interface for Military and First Responders!”
The 2026 TAK-HACK Hackathon aims to bring together Engineering (+ broader STEM) Students and Graduates, budding Entrepreneurs, Defence Personnel and Veterans to work together to develop ideas and solutions to assist with Defence relevant use cases in a short time-frame, centred around the Team Awareness Kit also known as the Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) - which is a situational awareness tool that provides users with analytics, precision targeting, geospatial information and navigation , controlling robotic systems, data sharing and much more.
TAK also have many civilian applications, such as situational awareness and tracking used to help with public safety, firefighting, search and rescue, law enforcement duties and supporting natural disaster recovery efforts.
The 2026 TAK-HACK Hackathon Challenge Statement is:
"How might we use TAK to better enable multiple agencies to deconflict resources, coordinate response actions and maintain shared situational awareness during a rapidly evolving incident occurring within a major event precinct or densely populated urban gathering?"

*A Valid and Current Australian Government issued ID is required for access to this event.
To participate in the Hackathon you must be over the age of 18. However, persons under the age of 18 may attend the Pitching and Awards Session on the Sunday (16th) as a guest, if accompanied by a responsible adult over the age of 18.
Photography/Filming Consent: Attendees consent to being photographed and filmed (including audio recorded) as members of the audience or participation in the pitching event. By attending this event you agree to being filmed or photographed which may be used for marketing or promotional purposes. All personal or identifying information will be anonymised and protected wherever possible.
If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please let the Beaten Zone Team know via [email protected] – Beaten Zone cannot guarantee attendees that they will not be photographed or filmed, however all necessary steps will be taken to sanitise all relevant material before publishing or disseminating outside of Beaten Zone.
