Explore Desire in Movement with Hailey and Cailin
What would it look like to be able to move from the truth of your Desire? To let go of what you think you want and be moved by what wants you?
In this series, get ready to explore Desire through movement and connection with others. We’ll play in exercises that have you experience Desire from different angles - feeling the magnetic pull of Desire in your body, being in the vulnerability of it with others, and actually receiving it. Or not ;) Cailin and Hailey’s approach is as reverent as it is irreverent, breaking the mold of spiritual cliches in service to a deeper, more foundational Truth.
Live DJ : 7:25-9:05p: Servants of Dance (Nata Das) Live Set
Servant of Dance (Nata Das) ensemble that has been in Asheville for the last 12 years. We are musicians who observe, support, and hold space for the connection between dancers and musicians formed during a live dance/music event. One common thread in the music of NataDas at this point is Trey Crispin, the curator and leader of these ensembles for live performance. He has been performing live ecstatic dances for 15 years. NataDas – Servant of Dance – is a group that creates a deep moving tapestry of sound that looks to the movements of dancers as our written music. In our opinion everyone gets farther when we do these things together and not alone. Live music and movement connected are the medicine we bring to our community.

Guidelines
-VOICES on the dance floor: The dance floor is a talk-free zone. This allows dancers to engage in movement as a meditation, to go within, and to be more embodied without distraction in proximity.
-VOICES off the dance floor: We have created a tea lounge and chill space off the dance floor and quiet voices are encouraged in order to engage with others in a different way when you're not dancing.
-SHOELESS: We ask that you are shoeless in the space. If you have a physical reason to wear shoes, you are welcome to - we simply ask that they are not shoes you wear on the street.
-RESPECT: Be respectful of yourself, of others, and of the space/venue.
-PHONES: the dance floor and chill spaces are phone free zones. This allows dancers to be present fully.
Beat Church was started in San Francisco in the early 2000s by the amazing DJ, Neptune, who saw a need for a new cutting edge underground dance offering.
We want to continue and build on that tradition here in Asheville for the existing vibrant dance community.
