About the Artist:
Stacey Burke was born and raised in St. Alban’s Bay d’Espoir. She is an off-reserve member of the Miawpukek First Nation, through her grandfather Michael Burke. She is an avid crafter, with a passion for beading. Beading arts have been an important way to connect to her roots and culture, allowing her to express herself creatively while honoring her heritage. Each piece she creates tells a story, and shares a part of her Mi'kmaq identity. She loves how beading helps her to stay connected to the past, while expressing her unique artistic vision.
