Beading Boundaries - Beading & Garment Adorning Workshop
About this Event
Our s-x worker centered workshop, Beading Boundaries, is held to create space for community while exploring the meditative process of bead work. S-x workers are often blamed for their victimization, more-so than the general population. They are seen as less credible and viewed as deserving of violence. Because of this, despite the increased risk of sexual violence among the s-x work community, traumatic experiences are frequently overlooked due to stigma and discrimination.
Beading has deep roots in building resilience while in community with others and can provide a meaningful vehicle to express what boundaries, protection, and connection means for s-x workers. Patches, beads and sewing supplies will be provided, participants are encouraged to bring in garments (i.e. work outfits) they would like to adorn.

There are two steps to enter the building. Dial 012 on the call box and we will buzz you in! Go up the stairs or front elevator to the 2nd floor, we are the last door on the right.
If you utilize a wheelchair, please email or call Awakenings ahead of your arrival and a staff member can direct you up to the studio in our freight elevator.
