Beach Reads with Barks & Books Club
About this Event
Celebrate summer with your dog by bringing your own beach reads and summer romance books to the iconic HTO Beach. Located at 339 Queens Quay W, this unique park includes grassy hills, a long sandy beach extending along the water's edge, stationary yellow shade umbrellas and Muskoka chairs.
Look for Reisha and her mini poodle Stark under the yellow umbrellas at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, July 28.
A portion of your purchase will be donated to International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) in support of their long-time partner, Red de Apoyo Canino (RAC)* as they respond to the aftermath of the June 24 earthquakes in Venezuela. Your donation will help fund:
- medical supplies,
- animal food,
- clean water,
- the establishment of emergency veterinary clinics,
- and the transport of aid to affected communities.
See below for price breakdown. We will confirm the donation on our Instagram page once given. If you're unable to buy a ticket, please consider donating directly if you're able. Please note that because of the donation, this ticket is nonrefundable.
Packing List:
- Book of your choice (doesn't have to be beachy or summery!)
- Your dog
- Water bottle and dog bowl
- Beach blanket and/or towel
- Sunscreen and sun protection
- Snacks for yourself and your dog (optional)
What to Expect:
This is a silent reading-style book club. You may read a book of your choice at your own pace and converse with fellow members at your leisure. Dogs are not mandatory but are absolutely encouraged!
Rain Check:
In case of inclement weather such as rain and extreme heat (over 27 degrees), we will send an email on the morning of the event to meet at a spot in the Wellington Market Food Hall.
Important Reminders:
- Dogs must be leashed at all times. As this is near the water, you are responsible for your own pup's health and safety.
- For silent reading time, we ask you to keep your dog close by and leashed. Please do not allow your dog to run around and play during the book club so as not to disturb other visitors to the public beach.
- Toronto summer weather is unpredictable, so please prepare accordingly.
- Make sure you and your furbaby are well hydrated and protected from the sun.
Ticket Price Breakdown:
- $2.40 service and processing fees
- $10 donation to International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW)
- $5 to treats for Stark, our Chief Cuddling Officer and Mascot
