Capture the beauty of the coast as you create your own seaside canvas while learning the fundamentals of acrylic painting.
About this Event

Join us at Liberation Art Gallery for a beginner-friendly painting workshop where you'll be guided step by step to create a beautiful beach-inspired painting on canvas.

Inspired by Brighton's coastline, this relaxed workshop celebrates the calming colours, textures, and atmosphere of the sea. Whether you choose soft pastel skies, turquoise waters, or a glowing sunset palette, you'll be encouraged to personalise your painting and make it your own.

Whether you've never picked up a paintbrush before or are looking to build confidence with acrylics, this gentle workshop is designed to help you enjoy the process of painting while learning essential techniques along the way.

You'll follow a simple demonstration led by your artist facilitator, with plenty of opportunities to choose your own colour palette and add your own creative touches. Every painting will be unique, reflecting your own memories and connection to the coast.

🎨 What You'll Learn

Throughout this 1.5-hour workshop, you'll be introduced to the foundations of acrylic painting, including:

  • Mixing colours to create harmonious seaside palettes
  • Choosing the right brushes for different techniques
  • Painting skies, sea, and shoreline
  • Creating texture and movement in water
  • Building layers of paint
  • Adding highlights and finishing details
  • Developing confidence with acrylic paints

The session is designed to be enjoyable, accessible, and easy to follow, with guidance provided every step of the way.

🌊 Make It Your Own

Although everyone will follow the same composition, you'll be encouraged to personalise your painting through your own choice of colours and expressive brushstrokes. Whether you're inspired by the golden light of a Brighton sunset, cool coastal blues, or dramatic stormy skies, your finished canvas will be uniquely yours.

🌿 Creativity for Wellbeing

The sea has long been associated with calm, reflection, and wellbeing. Spending time painting coastal landscapes invites us to slow down, notice colour and light, and become absorbed in the creative process.

This workshop offers a welcoming space to unwind, switch off from the pace of everyday life, and enjoy the restorative benefits of painting.

✨ Perfect for Beginners

This workshop has been created especially for people who are new to painting or returning to creativity after a break.

No previous experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to have a go. Your artist facilitator will guide you throughout, making the experience enjoyable and pressure-free.
