With so much of our lives now dominated by tech & the internet, it’s easy to forget how it feels to be creative with your hands. And we want to remind you. Sweeter High is built on the idea of slow and honest craftsmanship, with actual humans doing the core of the making, and not mass production machines. We sell simple silver stacking rings that are underpinned by this ethos. This workshop gives you the chance to better understand what it takes to handcraft silver jewellery - the time, the skill, the creativity plus the mistakes and the learnings. You’ll end up with pieces that you can proudly say you’ve made with your own hands, and that may bear small imperfections, a sign of the handcrafted process - perfectly imperfect, exactly as they are.

The workshop runs for 3 hours, at a creative studio in Point Chevalier, Auckland. Tutors will guide a small class of only 10 students, through the process of making their own rings. This involves the measuring, cutting and texturing of metals, soldering and the use of a jewellers torch, and finishing techniques including sanding, polishing and tumbling. You will be able to choose from all Sweeter High ring wires: circle, square, beaded and twisted. At the end of the class, you’ll walk away with two sterling silver rings - these are included in the ticket price. You'll also have a copper/brass ring, this is what you'll make first as a bit of a practice run before you start on your silver rings.

I (Lexie) will be taking part in the class and making my own rings too - I’m feeling pumped to meet everyone and have a sweet as little creative session together. Mum (Julie) tutored at the recent Wellington workshop but unfortunately can't make this date in Auckland.
