About this Event

How do we help children grow the skills to be confidently curious about their world at a time when anxiety and overwhelm affect so many? How do we help them become better able to cope with the unexpected? Explore this challenge with a sensory musical version of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ suitable for 0-7s and fully inclusive for special and/or complex needs.

Expect a twangling, painty, touchy, feely, smelly, and magical adventure delivered with Collar & Cuffs signature warmth. Signed and Relaxed.

Collar & Cuffs Co was established in 2016, and is a collaboration between sisters Julia and Ellie Collar - Julia specialises in children and young people’s mental health and is mum to 6 year old twins, both with special needs; Ellie is an Early Years and SEN consultant.

The company focuses on developing inclusive, signed and relaxed sensory musical theatre for 0-7s, primarily exploring topics relating to children’s emotional development, mental health and wellbeing. All performances can accommodate children and young people with complex needs alongside their siblings for a whole-family experience.

The company also designs and delivers sensory tours for cultural venues and is an associate sensory artist at MK Gallery.

Awards: Best Community Project, Luton and Bedfordshire Community Awards 2016; Best Children and Families Show for ‘Crabby’, International Youth Arts Festival 2018; Best Children’s Show for ‘Little Meerkat’s Big Panic’, Buxton Fringe Festival 2018.
