About this Event

GREETINGS:

Welcome back BGA (Be Great Athletics) Family! Are you ready to get back on the football field and compete?! Well it's that time of the year again, and we're ready to host the most lit 6v6 football tournament thus far rolling into Year 3! We've heard the talk and received all of your requests on hosting another annual tournament. So, here it is!

**Please read carefully over the event's details and expectations below, and make sure your team is on the same page. In order for this tournament to run as smoothly and organized as possible, it is important that you read these details carefully and understand our expectations!

TOURNAMENT LOCATION/DATE/TIME:

This year (2022) we are hosting our second tournament at UW-Madison Near West Turf Fields Sunday July 17th from 10:00am to 5:00pm. It is an all-day event with endless football, competition, food, and more! Registration is $10 per person and can be paid via cash, cashapp, venmo. No pay no play. We are eager to see everyone and would like to call it a family reunion because of how close the BGA Family has become over the past tournaments! This is your chance to show off your talent, build your network, and connect with the BGA Family, as well as enjoy a fun day full of football.

DESTINATION AND ARRIVAL:

The tournament will be hosted at Madison Near West Turf Fields. The address is 2001 Observatory Dr, Madison, WI 53706. The park has 2-3 parking lots that will be marked for you to park in upon arrival. If the lots are full you may have to park along the streets leading up to the park and walk down to the fields. Do not park in front of any house's driveway entrance or grass areas. Upon arrival, we ask that you and your team find an area to sit in the bleachers/grass and wait for further instruction from BGA HOSTS Tre Hatchett and Brady Card. You should arrive at 10am sharp for a mass announcement of the tournament expectations. The tournament play will start at 11am sharp. There will be a large display of the tournament bracket located on the field for everyone to see when/who their team plays. We ask that if you are not playing you and your team remain in the bleachers or around the track. As stated, registration is $10 per person via cash, cashapp, venmo.

TEAMS AND CAPTAINS:

Team captains will be responsible for making sure their entire team's money is collected and payed for. Your team is responsible for color coordinating and everyone on the team wearing a set color. Your team may pick whatever color you choose. If two teams playing each other that are the same colors, then one will switch to shirtless. There will be a cash prize for the tournament champions, as well as one offensive and defensive MVP plaque awarded.

Individuals and free agents are still allowed to come and play, however, you will be responsible for communicating with your captain or find a team to join on tournament day. We will NOT assign any free agents to a team, but we may help you look for one if an existing team is willing to accept you.

The majority of teams in past tournaments were comprised of high school, college, and veteran athletes. For safety concerns anyone under the age of 13 will not be allowed to play in the tournament, but is welcome to attend. There will be food trucks, music, and lawn games available for your entertainment.

LOUNGING/BATHROOMS/FOOD/T-SHIRTS/RAFFLE/EVENT STAFF:

The park offers open grass for you to sit/camp. You are welcome to bring your own chairs, tents, etc. There are bathrooms and water fountains located inside the pavilion complex. There will also be water hoses on the fields for the players. There will be food /concessions at the tournament. You may pay via cash, cashapp, venmo. We do advise you to bring plenty of your own hydration liquids and foods since it will be a long day of physical activity outside. There will also be Be Great Athletic dry fit compression t-shirts available for sale. There will be raffle tickets sold for a cash prize. Event staff will be in neon yellow shirts for your assistance. There may be local news channels and cameramen covering the tournament's activities for the day as well. The event will be monitored by BGA security.

RULES AND TOURNAMENT STYLE:

This is a 6v6 tournament. We want 1on1 matchups and real football schemes. Meaning you are allowed 5 skill positions and 1 quarterback on the field. There must be a person to snap the ball on offense, and the snapper is ineligible. On defense you are allowed 6 players to be on the field. The bracket style tournament consists of 3 guaranteed games of pool play for each team. After pool play, it will be a single elimination playoffs. Playoff seeding will be first determined by record, then fewest points allowed, and if necessary, then most points scored. In the end, defense wins championships. There is no overtime pool play. If overtime occurs in the playoffs, each team will have 3 downs to score a touchdown from the redzone marker (15 yard line). First to score and defend their opponent from scoring will win in overtime. If neither team scores, then the drive will reset on the 15 yard line and follow the same formatted rules. There will be a 30 minute break before playoffs to allow teams to hydrate, eat, and prepare. Each game will be 25 minutes with a running clock. A new game will start every 30 minutes to keep the tournament on schedule. We plan to be running 3-4 fields of games at once. Teams will start on the 45 yard line. There will be two first down marks at the 25 yard line and 15 yard line (redzone). You have 4 downs to convert a first down or score a touchdown. If neither occurs, it is a turnover and the opposing team will take over and start at the 45 yard line. Each team is allowed 1 timeout per game. There is a 4 apple second count for the quarterback to throw the ball. If the ball is not thrown BY 4 apples, the result is a sack and loss of down. If a flea flicker or halfback pass occurs you must still throw the ball BY 4 apples. A flea flicker does not count as a rush. If the quarterback is sacked at the 45 yard line the result is a safety and turnover. A safety is worth 2 points, turnover on downs awards the defense 2 points, and an interception awards the defense 2 points. A touchdown is worth 6 points. Following the touchdown, teams can go for two extra points from the 10 yard line, or teams can attempt for one extra point from the 5 yard line. Referees will keep track of the score. There will be NO switching of teams during the tournament: players are only allowed to play on the team you registered with. Each team is responsible for bringing their own ball that is of high school or college regulation size. Any other ball will not be allowed to be used. This tournament will be TWO-HAND TOUCH style. One hand does not count and referees will have all final decisions.

IN-GAME PENALTIES:

**REFEREES HAVE ALL FINAL DECISIONS**

(1) Holding= 5 yards

(2) Offensive or Defensive Pass interference= 15 yards AND automatic first down

(3) Any other violation of rules such as blitzing more than once/rushing more than once per game/ or delaying the game, etc. will result in a 5 yard penalty and/or a loss/gain of down.

**REFEREES HAVE ALL FINAL DECISIONS**

UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT:

**REFEREES/BGA OWNERS HAVE ALL FINAL DECISIONS**

(1) Unsportsmanlike penalty= 15 yards

(2) Two unsportsmanlike penalties will result in ejection from that game.

(3) **If a player or a team collectively racks up 3 total unsportsmanlike penalties throughout the tournament, then that ENTIRE TEAM IS DISQUALIFIED from the rest of the tournament and must leave the tournament.

(4) BGA demands to keep all events safe and peaceful for everyone to enjoy! Any sort of threat to the event or persons involved will result in ejection, disqualification, banned from future events, and possible law enforcement consequences. Weapons and drugs are forbidden.

**REFEREES/BGA OWNERS HAVE ALL FINAL DECISIONS**

MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS:

Our mission here at BGA is to provide a training business that offers sports performance training while encouraging a movement of unity and growing a foundation for the youth. We believe all races, sizes, and ages should strive together in times like today, and through what we provide and offer, our BGA Family does just that! Through the game of football and athletic training, this is just one way we connect our surrounding communities of many cities and states with each other. We want to be the best training business in the nation, but have our priority set on what really matters: The Bigger Picture.

The Bigger Picture: We believe what we do is bigger than just football. We believe it's bigger than ourselves. It's about growing a supportive family for each other so that we can rely on in tough times, and seek help in regards to Suicide Prevention, Black Lives Matter Movement, and many other challenges that our society faces today. And when it comes to race and the Criminal Justice system: It's bigger than black and white. Unfortunately, our world can't change overnight. But we gotta start somewhere. And BGA brings everyone together through one common thing: Football. Our family is beyond race, identity, status, etc. Join our family to experience how we work together and come be part of The Bigger Picture and help us move forward together for the better!

Thank you for your support, we appreciate and love everyone in our BGA FAMILY!

- BGA Founders Tre Hatchett and Brady Card are here for the Bigger Picture.
