About this Event

British Ceramics Biennial provides open-access ceramics facilities in Stoke-on-Trent. We run our studio from the historic Spode Works factory site in the centre of the city. We now run various sessions on Mondays and Thursdays. These are not taught sessions although the associate artist running the session may be able to provide some technical support.

The sessions take place Mondays and Thursdays: 1pm – 8.00pm. You can attend as many sessions as you like.

Hand-building and studio access

Each session costs £6-£8.50 depending on the length of time you select. The sessions must be booked individually.

Throwing

We currently have 3 shimpo wheels available for use. Due to popular demand, there are 3 x 2-hour slots on each wheel per day. This is to allow more people to have a chance to use the wheels. Please note, that it is not anticipated that one person would book out the same wheel for a number of slots on a regular basis. You will be able to select a specific wheel and time as an add-on when you book a ticket.

No materials are supplied, however there is plenty of clay available to use if you reclaim it yourself. We do have a selection of tools but most members bring in their own.

NOTE: Before attending your first session, both current and new studio members must have completed a membership form and sent it to [email protected] and read the new studio guidelines. Go to https://www.britishceramicsbiennial.com/what-we-do/annual-projects/studio/open-studio/ to fill out your membership form.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do talk to us at [email protected].
