Yay, beautiful people, we are so excited to announce our upcoming BBQ for the Homeless and Others in Need! We can’t wait to see you all again and are working hard to make it all happen. We are going through incredibly tough times and we do realise that more and more people are in need of support.
We are inviting you all and would love to welcome many guests and volunteers to Musgrave Park on Sunday 4 June for our awesome BBQ event. We hope to be able to give out many of life’s basics to those who need it. If you like to come to pick some items you need, have a health check, enjoy a lovely day under the Queensland winter sun and connect with volunteers, support services and each other, we look forward to seeing you! If you come to volunteer, it would be fabulous if you would be able to arrive at 8am to help us set up. This is a massive job that is done a lot quicker and more easily with many hands on deck. The same would go for pulling down the event from 1pm. If people would like to stay and help us pack up, thank you so much! You are so very welcome to stay for the whole or for part of the event.
If you would like to donate, these are the things we are in need of:
Shoes for men, women and children
New underwear for men, women and children – all sizes
New socks – all sizes
Beanies, scarves and gloves
Non perishable foods
Toiletries (especially men's; no razors please and only roll-on deodorant)
Blankets
Sleeping bags
We will update you on any changing needs on our Signal Flare page. Please pm us if you have donations.
We are grateful at this stage for being able to offer health checks and, if needed, First Aid (thank you, Jennifer!), as well as liver checks (thank you, Mim and crew of Kombi Clinic!). Sonja and Do It’s You will again run a great community art workshop – Thank you Sonja! We will keep you posted as more services are confirmed.
If you are volunteering at our BBQ, we ask that you wear closed shoes and that you bring a warm smile, an open heart, a non-judgemental mind, and helping hands. If you have children, please bring them along. We have little and big jobs for everyone of all ages, and kids always love our events.
