About this Event

BAYCAT's Fall 2024 Youth Media Showcase will feature original short films by our introductory and advanced filmmaking programs.

BAYCAT's Fall 2024 Filmmaking students explored the theme "The Art of Protest." Our introductory class learned about different social movements and iterations of protest art. Then, they created animated protest posters using stop-motion animation. Our advanced students produced a documentary from start to finish about Chris Gazaleh, a local Palestinian-American muralist, and how he interprets the world through art.

Over ten weeks, Red Bridge students learned about the effects of climate change in the San Francisco Bay Area and explored its ramifications as it relates to native endangered species. Students worked through a series of skill-building exercises from pre- to post-production such as brainstorming, researching, camera basics, and editing to create a photo essay.

Join us on Tuesday, Dec 17th as these talented young artists debut their media and share their artistic processes. A Q&A and reception will follow the screening.

The showcase will take place in the two multipurpose rooms in the Southeast Community Center. There is elevator access, and the venue and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Seating will be available for the presentation and throughout the venue.
