battleaxe press is delighted to host the launch of Sue Bracken’s chapbook “27” and Diane Perazzo’s chapbook “Suddenly, Time was Like the Flowers,” this Monday, December 8, 2025 at the School of Photographic Arts: Ottawa (SPAO), at 7:00 pm. (Doors at 6:30pm.)Come celebrate warmly and close the year with us as we head towards long Winter nights with two moving chapbooks. Bracken’s “27” is a loving meditation for a sister gone too young, while Perazzo’s “Suddenly, Time was Like the Flowers,” weaves through seasons of change.
About the Authors:
Diane Perazzo is an eco witch in the Reclaiming tradition. She is a co-creator of the art and poetry exhibit Sowing the Future: When Food Becomes Connection, author of several chapbooks and a children's Her poetry has been published in earth-based spirituality and ecology-focused online and print publications, including humana obscura, bywords, The Amethyst Review, Willows Wept Review, Solarpunk Magazine, Jane Hershfield's Poets for Science Global Gallery, and the 2026 We'Moon Datebook. For many years, Diane was a free-lance writer focusing on health equity, mental health and climate change. As she eases into her elder years, she has become more focused on crafting verses and stories that strive to echo the magical and mythic voices of the living land and her beings.
Sue Bracken: is a poet, partner, mother, sister, amateur photographer, and swimmer. Sue’s work has been published in Angel House Press (NationalPoetryMonth.ca), GUEST [a journal of guest editors], Hart House Review, WEIMAG, The New Quarterly, Another Dysfunctional Cancer Poem Anthology, More than a Gathering (a Kingston Artfest anthology), and elsewhere. Poetry collections include One Goose Honking (Black Mallard, winner of the 2024 Starling Award for Poetry), and When Centipedes Dream (Tightrope Books 2018). Sue lives and writes in Toronto in a home powered by remarkably talented artists and an intelligent though profusely shedding husky who is adjusting to an uber energetic kitten.
