The City of Battle Creek’s Department of Public Works will host its annual open house for the public on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m., at 150 S. Kendall St. in Battle Creek.This free, family-friendly event invites residents to get an up-close look at the equipment, vehicles, and work that keeps the city running each day.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a variety of DPW vehicles, watch live equipment demonstrations, climb into trucks, and even paint a snowplow. Activities will also include games, a scavenger hunt-style experience, and giveaways, including free buckets of compost and plants while supplies last.
City staff will be on site to answer questions and showcase the wide range of services provided by DPW, from street maintenance and repairs to water treatment, fleet maintenance, and recycling programs.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase from an on-site vendor.
