Join us for a workshop as part of our Bats In Woodlands project!! š³š¦Lots of bat species roost in trees, but WHAT trees do they use?
WHERE are they roosting?
And HOW do we find them?
This beginner-friendly workshop is aimed at anyone who has an interest in bats or trees (or both) and would like to know what features to look out for that may be useful for bats.
We'll be covering the following topics:
- Intro to bat surveying and the law
- Bat ecology
- Non-licence survey techniques
- Licenced survey techniques (using an endoscope)
- Identifying tree species
- Tree management for bats
This workshop will be outside so please wrap up warm and wear footwear suitable for muddy and slippy places.
Meet at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre CafƩ at 1pm for a quick introduction (in the warm) before we head out to Penglais woods to survey some trees.
