The artist John Piper created beautiful images of the English landscape and architecture. These will be the inspiration to create batiks on fabric using Jenny’s contemporary interpretation of a traditional technique working with hot wax and inks to make individual pieces of work. No experience is necessary as the technique will be taught from scratch. Most materials provided, just bring an apron, hairdryer, gloves and John Piper images of his landscapes or buildings for inspiration, also two pieces of white or light coloured cotton fabric up to A3 max. These can be pre used or vintage.

About Jenny O’Leary
Jenny is a textile artist and tutor based in Ellesmere, north Shropshire. Her work is very much inspired by the landscape of Shropshire, through her textile art she aims to bring out feelings about what is around her rather than being a true representation of any one place.
She works predominately in batik (hot wax resist) on tissue, paper and fabric, often combining it with machine and hand embroidery adding a drawn element to her work.
Jenny offers talks, courses and workshops in Shropshire and around the UK.
She is a member of The Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft and The Batik Guild
