Batik Egg Dyeing with Cassie

Join Craft Coven CEO Cassie Jones in creating highly designed eggs to be used as Spring decor or gifts using a traditional Ukranian technique. This event is geared towards ADULTS ONLY, you must be 16 or older to participate.
Pysanky egg dyeing is a technique using wax, acid dyes, and specialized tools to build up layered designs onto real egg shells. Artist Cassie Jones uses this method to create the eggs shown in the currently exhibited show at Cherry Street Pier: Eggy
During this workshop you will learn how to use specialized tools to puncture your 3 eggs and empty them before dyeing. Your instructor will walk you through the steps of applying wax to your egg to create resists for building up layers of color. We will be using beeswax and flames. If you have sensitive skin you are welcome to bring your own gloves.
