Get hands-on with the essential skills needed to tile a bathroom confidently and safely. The Bathroom Tiling Workshop is a practical, one-day course that introduces you to the fundamentals of wall and floor tiling in a supportive trade workshop environment.

Led by experienced trainers, you’ll learn how to prepare surfaces, set out tiles accurately, apply adhesive, cut tiles safely and complete a tiled surface with grout. With a strong focus on doing rather than watching, this workshop is designed to build real confidence through guided practice.

Whether you’re planning a DIY bathroom project or exploring the idea of a trade pathway, this workshop gives you a practical taste of tiling using CIT’s industry-standard facilities.

Participants must provide their own PPE (eye and hearing protection as well as covered shoes) and complete the safety induction at commencement of the workshop.

Eligibility and entry requirements

To enrol in this course, you must be aged 17 years or older, and be one of the following: 

• an Australian citizen or permanent resident 

• a New Zealand citizen 

• the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa 

• an eligible temporary visa holder as defined in the CIT Admission and Enrolment Policy.   

Delivery mode

• Face-to-face course delivered on-campus - one day (8 hours)

• Safely identify common tools and materials used for wall and floor tiling
• How to prepare and set out a small area for tiling
• Techniques to mix and apply tile adhesive correctly
• How to place and space tiles for a neat, consistent finish
• Methods for cutting tiles safely using basic cutting tools
• Mixing and applying grout to complete a small tiling project
• To follow safe work practices relevant to tiling tasks.
