Celebrate Bastille Day with a pink-themed picnic and a gathering of fabulous women who appreciate culture and good company!
About this Event

In honor of 'la fete nationale' - and our upcoming trip Femmes de Culture trip to Art Basel Paris in October - join the Women of Culture community for a French style pique-nique, in pink!

Inspired by the old pinknic on Governor's Island - but with a French twist - this Bastille Day celebration on the East Green of Central Park (east side of the Park near 69th St - exact location to be shared by what's app the day of the event) will be a great way to celebrate all things French, while also learning more about our Paris trip and meeting other potential travelers bound for Art Basel Paris with us in October!

It will be a fun-filled afternoon of picnicking, networking, and celebrating French culture, followed by the option to head to the Rumsey Playfield around 5:30pm for the annual Summerstage Bastille Day concert, this year featuring IAM, MAGIC SYSTEM, THE AVENER, LAURIE DARMON and FEMI THE SCORPION.

Wear your favorite pink or white attire and enjoy delicious French treats while connecting with fellow arts-minded women and travel-lovers.

And remember for bring your favorite beverage and/or snack to share.

We'll have blankets, cups, plates, napkins and some French snacks - but please bring your favorite snack or beverage to share, as well as any questions you might have about our travel itinerary (see more information here).

Don't miss out on this fabulous afternoond! Free to attend but advance registration required in order to be added to the what's app group with exact location.

More about the concert, starting at 6pm:

In honor of Bastille Day, the Consulate General of France imports a bevy of artists from across the Francosphere, spanning multiple genres and continents. Singer-songwriter Laurie Darmon writes sensual love songs tuned to the beat of the dance floor; Transporteur Bonheur taps into the energy of the street with confrontational joy; the DJ and producer the Avener is best known for his 2014 single “Fade Out Lines”, a deep house rework of Phoebe Killdeer & The Short Straws’ “The Fade Out Line”; the Marseille hip-hop quintet IAM spit hard-hitting, politically charged lyrics rooted in the African diaspora, drawing particular influence and inspiration from ancient Egypt; and Magic System, a coupé-décalé band from the former French colony of Ivory Coast, makes music rooted in the Zouglou dance style.
