The 3x3 basketball tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place between 30 July and 5 August at Place de la Concorde in Paris https://tickets-paris24.com/paris/events/179788. Skateboarding breakdancing and BMX freestyle competitions are scheduled to take place at the same location.

Two sets of prizes will be awarded: in the classic version and 3x3 among men and women. The 3x3 version is a type of basketball in which there are three players on a team instead of five but the playing court is also halved. The sport made its Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2020. At that time 8 national teams took part in the competition. The gold medal went to the Latvian team the silver medal went to the Russian Olympic Committee team and the bronze medal was awarded to the Serbian team. In women's basketball the winners were the USA team the Russian Olympic Committee team and China. 

Sixty-four athletes will take part in the Olympic 3x3 basketball tournament. There will be two separate competitions for women's and men's teams. A total of 16 teams will compete each with 4 participants. Three athletes will take the field with one athlete remaining in reserve. 

Until the beginning of summer in 2024 qualification tournaments are held which will determine which teams will compete for the main sporting honours and for whom those who have time to buy tickets for the 2024 Olympics will cheer.

So far it is difficult to name the favourites. The 2022 World Cup was held in Antwerp and none of the 2020 gold medallists could reach even the semi-finals. The winners were the Serbians and the runners-up were the Serbs. In the women's event the French women celebrated victory with second place going to the Canadian athletes.
