About this Event
BASICS: Stained Glass with instructors Michelle Pope and Theresa Hutchins
This Basic course class runs 1.5 hours and covers tools, safety, skills and organization of stained glass at Lacey MakerSpace. This will be a general overview of the tools and a short hands-on tutorial with a focus on set up and clean up. Successful completion of this course will qualify members to use the stained glass equipment independently at LMS. For more hands-on help on your stained glass project, we offer a monthly club for LMS members, or one-on-one mentoring sessions.
This BASICS course takes place at the same time as monthly Stained Glass club. Members are welcome to come to the course and stick around to continue building skills in the club after class.
BASIC classes are always free for Lacey MakerSpace members. Individuals are welcome to sign up for multiple Basics classes until they feel confident on the equipment.
------------------------------------
There is a $10 no-show fee for LMS members who don't show up for the classes they sign up for. These fees will be charged to the card we have on file. This fee is being instituted because we have had a pattern of members not showing up to our classes. Our classes have a limited amount of slots and we want to serve as many attendees as possible.
Closed-toed shoes are required at all times at the Lacey MakerSpace.
Please familiarize yourself with our and * before class.
*Liability Waiver must be signed in person at the front desk before participating in any activities at the Lacey MakerSpace.
LMS provides all necessary safety gear, including safety glasses and other PPE.
Instructor Michelle:
"As a lifelong maker, I understand the power of having access to the right tools within an encouraging community. Since becoming Director in 2021, I've had the privilege of helping build a space where people transform ideas into reality. Whether someone is launching a business, gaining confidence with new tools, or finding community among fellow makers, I'm inspired daily by our members' journeys. This is what drives me: fostering a place where creativity, entrepreneurship, and skill-building come together to strengthen our entire community."
Instructor Theresa Hutchins has been crafting with stained glass for 20-years. She became a professional artist in 2005 opening Solace Glass Studio. Through her studio, Theresa has participated in Arts Walk and sold both commissioned pieces as well as gallery art. Theresa especially enjoys sharing her passion and teaching others the craft of designing and building stained glass art.
