Experiment with interdisciplinary arts at Creative in Residence Dr. Jennifer Willet’s “Baroque Biology”, a one-day community event and science fair at Point Pelee National Park.Willet (she/her) is an artist, a Canada Research Chair in Art, Science, and Ecology, a Professor in the School of Creative Arts at the University of Windsor and the Director of INCUBATOR ArtLab , founded in 2009. She is a leader in the Canadian bioart community and works internationally as an artist and curator in the field.
During “Baroque Biology”, Willet and special guests will engage park-goers in exploring Great Lakes ecology through a variety of activities, including an artist presentation, hands-on workshop activities, artworks and scientific displays, live music and a parade! Journey to “Baroque Biology” at Point Pelee National Park with Arts Council Windsor & Region’s Neighbourhood Art Tour, a round trip bus excursion.
The Neighbourhood Art Tour begins and ends at ArtSpeak Gallery, where visitors can visit Willet’s pop up exhibition “Gentleman Scientist: Microecologies”. This exhibition features a 360° diorama installation of Willet’s alter ego Gentleman Scientist covered in colonies of microorganisms, bacteria, yeast, and algae.
